Man’s best friend may be the dog, but some people naturally align with the cat as their best suited companions among any other pets. Although cat people come in a wide range of different personalities and flavors, some characteristics seem to ring true for all of them.

“Cat People”

There is really no way to define “cat people”, but there is something about them. Anyone that shows compassion for pets at all, especially cats, is bound to be a good person. You can often judge a person based on how many cats they own. Some people can take things a little overboard by owning more cats than they can reasonably take care of, but most people can have a healthy number of cats in their home, and this can tell you a lot about who they are. Someone who owns a handful of friendly cats is not going to be a bad person.

You can also judge a person by how their cats act. Someone with a bunch of super adorable, well behaved cats is going to be someone worth knowing, don’t you think? There are a myriad of cute cat videos on the Internet, and every time you see one, don’t you wish you could be friends with the owner and perhaps spend some time with that cat?

Cat people are definitely interesting. You probably know a few of these “cat people” right now. Their affinity for cats is something that shines through them, it easily helps to define who they are as people and as friends.

The Benefits of Adopting a Cat

There are basically two options available to you when you decide that you want a cat. You can adopt a cat from a shelter or an owner who cannot keep one, or you can buy one from a pet store. If you do a little research you will find that there are a myriad of benefits for why adopting a cat is the better choice.

The Benefits of Adopting a Cat

When you adopt a cat, you are not getting a rambunctious kitten. Some people may prefer the young, bouncy, ever-energetic nature of a kitten, but this quickly fades. Kittens can be destructive and hard to deal with, and there is a lot of training involved at first. When you adopt a cat from a shelter or a previous owner, you are adopting an animal that has already been trained and is already ready to come home with you.

Adopting a cat allows you to bring home an animal that already has a story. Many shelter kitties need love just as badly as you do, and so they are anxious to come home and show you that they can be well behaved and will give you love and affection whenever you need it. If you are looking for a companion that is  going to be a true companion to you, then adopting a cat from the shelter is definitely the right way to go. Shelter cats need love to, and they have a much more difficult time getting adopted in comparison to the cute pet store kittens.

Cats Make Excellent Pets

If you are considering what type of pet will best benefit you, you might want to consider the simple cat. Cats can be a lot of fun, and they make excellent pets when you know how to care for them properly.

Cats Make Excellent Pets

There are a number of reasons for why cats make excellent pets. First and foremost, they can be extremely affectionate. It is not uncommon for a cat to want to sleep on or near you at all times. You may end up going to bed with a cat in your lap, draped across your body or even laying on your face.

Cats are relatively easy to keep. They are very independent creatures in general, which means they are not as needy as dogs are in terms of requiring affection or care. This means that as long as you are providing for their basic needs, they are going to be satisfied with you, and you do not have to provide them with anything extra unless it is you that is looking for a cuddle.

Cats are relatively easy to clean up after. They go potty in a box that has to be cleaned, and they eat from dishes which will need to be cleaned, but otherwise they are fairly clean animals. They are self-cleaning, and generally neat about their things. This makes them good pets for domiciles of all sizes including small apartments and big homes.

If you are considering buying or adopting a pet, definitely consider the friendly feline.
